Which is the next country to accept Bitcoin as legal tender? Samson Mow, a former Blockstream executive and longtime supporter of Bitcoin (BTC), recently indicated that he thinks other countries will start accepting the king coin in the coming years.
In an interview with Kitco News, Mow, currently the CEO of Bitcoin technology company JAN3, mentioned a country that he believes could soon adopt BTC.
Next Country to Accept Bitcoin
He said the following:
“Well, it looks like Panama is coming. They are just waiting for a signature from the president to sign a law. That was quite unexpected, even the Central African Republic was unexpected. It just came out of nowhere.
I think it’s definitely possible within this year that we’ll see another one come out. I’m actually working on a couple of countries too, with Bitcoiners in different places on the ground.
There are two paths here. One is actively pushing Bitcoin, the other is natural adoption, where they figure it out for themselves and say, ‘Okay, we’re going to use Bitcoin.’ Our prospects look good this year.”
Mow also revealed that he is working with major personalities in Mexico to promote Bitcoin adoption in the country.
He stated the following about this:
“I work with a few people in Mexico. Indira Kempis, she’s a Mexican senator. And also Ricardo Salinas, that is the Mexican Avengers team trying to get Bitcoin adoption in Mexico. And I don’t want to name a few others just yet, but there is more going on.”
Mow and Blockstream were the main architects behind El Salvador’s Bitcoin bonds, which the Central American nation plans to use to fund a new “Bitcoin City”.
It is clear that the adoption of Bitcoin will continue to grow especially in countries where fiat currencies are collapsing. As we witness the next country to accept Bitcoin it will add to the sentiment that Bitcoin is not only an effective store of long-term value but can transition to become a unit of account.
